Inventory level warnings can be helpful to avoid inventory over-extension on transactions. But this feature may not be helpful for everyone in every situation. If inventory warnings are more of an annoyance than a help, learning how to disable this alert may recover hundreds or even thousands of dollars in time for your team.

What are Inventory Level Warnings?

This is NetSuite’s description of inventory warnings in the help documentation:

The Inventory Level Warnings preference displays a popup message when you add an item to a transaction. On the message, it shows an item’s quantity available, reorder point, and the quantity on order. If you have multiple locations, the warning also displays information for the location you are selling from.

This warning may look something like this:

Inventory Warnings Are Not for Everyone

Although this warning can be very important for some companies, it isn’t necessarily needed for all. For instance, some companies primarily fulfill drop-ship items. In this case, such inventory warnings may be a bit of a nuisance.

How to Disable Inventory Warnings

Disabling inventory warnings will only apply to your own NetSuite account. If you decide to disable this feature, no other users will be affected.

Step 1: Navigate to Set Preferences

In the menu bar, hover over the home icon. You will then see an option to “Set Preferences.” These preferences will only apply to your currently logged-in account.

Step 2: Deselect the “Inventory Level Warnings” Checkbox

After navigating to the “Transactions” tab, you should be able to find the checkbox to disable these inventory warnings. Once unchecked, the changes will be applied upon saving.

Conclusion

Again, this blog might not be for everyone. But if you find inventory level warnings to be more of a hinderance than a help, you may be delighted to know about this setting!
