Visuals Bring Clarity
Datasets and Workbooks are the younger brother of Saved Searches. They’re a great way to provide a visual grasp of important company information. Datasets and Workbooks are also more flexible and easier to use for the average NetSuite user. But did you know it is possible to export this data to a CSV file for further use outside NetSuite? In this NetSuite tip, we will show you how.
Step 1: Select a Workbook
First, we must navigate to a Workbook. Click the “Analytics” link in the menu bar. Then, select a Workbook of your choice. You may prefer to create a new Dataset, in which case a Workbook can be created after you have done so.
Step 2: Select a Table Visualization
Next, be sure to select a “table” style visualization to be able to export to CSV. NetSuite does support exporting to SVG files for the “chart” visualization, but in this example we will focus on exporting a table.
Step 3: Select the “Export Data to a CSV File” Button
On the top left above your table data, there is a small export button. Hovering over it with our cursor, we see that this will export our data to a CSV file. Click here, and a copy will be sent to your downloads folder!
Conclusion
Now that you know how to export Workbooks to CSV files, you can take your NetSuite data even farther. This file can be opened in Microsoft Excel and edited or manipulated as desired.
